it could be anything from a bad spark plug to a bad valve. Spark plug wires come to mind as well.

spark plug bad, bad plug wire, burnt valve, broken valve spring...worn out camshaft. first things first.

check to see if you have fire to the cylinder which is missing. If you do then pull the plug and check that. If that is good...take a compression test.

this series of tests will tell you what is the problem

quick check - at night with spray bottle of water soak spark plug wires (engine running) - if u hear a snapping sound and see a spark jumping between wires or to engine replace wires - check one spark plug for correct gap while your changing wires. if one gap is bad replace all spark plugs. p.s. dont touch wires with engine running

I'd change the fuel filter and put some fuel dryer in the tank first.
Could be nothing more than water in the fuel.
Try to only buy gas from consistent gas stations. Buying from many different or unfamiliar stations can lead to bad gas.

Sounds like it. Could be faulty wires as well. Replace plugs, drive, if it happens again replace the wires. If it happens still, check your air filter. It could be dirty.
