Organism must grow and devlop in order to be able to become more complex and mature to reproduce. Also they cannot survive if they never do. For example: A baby must be small to be born. If it doesn't grow and develop it will not be able to learn diffrent things. When its parents are not there it will not be able to provide it's own food. It will not have the sperms and eggs that it need to reproduce fertile offspring. This includes all organism from all the kingdoms.
