Sorry, but I would like an URL photo for an answer...It is a plain swept-back chrome hood ornament with wings. It is very simple wing no distinquishable features whatsoever--it is in mint condition. It is roughly 13 1/2 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide just behind the wings, and wingspan is 6 inches in the rear.
The mounting bolts are in the middle and in the rear. The first half (the "head" and front half of wings) extends beyond the front hood mount.
It is designed with three spines. A "backbone" spine and two side spines to give the piece a triangular look when "looking down the breach" and four spines looking down the barrel" (the fourth running underneath the ornament and terminating at the hood in front of the front mounting bolt.)
It is aftermarket and stamped with "Univex" and "PT 475209" as a part number.
I am tired of google searching after so many hours...do you know?

If you could supply a photo the search would be over. There were many hood ornaments that fit your description, but to get the exact year and model the information needs to be a little more precise. Both GM and Chrysler made winged hood ornaments in the fifties. I would say that what you are describing sounds more Chrysler like, but remember Chrysler made Dodge, Plymouth, Desoto, and Chrysler in those years. Also Packard made a similar ornament in the mid 1950's.
Go to www.hemmings.com for more information on these years.

See if you can find it here. They were also called mascots. Being aftermarket will make it hard to find, good luck.
