Does anyone know if you can travel through Mexico or Guatemala and not be detected by the CIA or US immigration authorities? Any other ideas about how to go to Cuba without getting caught?

Yes, there are ways around it. You need to fly to Mexico first. Then from Mexico go to Cuba, but you need to bribe the immigration officials in Cuba so that they don't stamp your passport.

There are some humanitarian groups in the US that take trips to Cuba for, of course, humanitarian reasons. A friend of mine got sponsored on one of these trips and went last year. He didn't go for humanitarian reasons. He did bring back a few boxes of cigars and a lot of good photographs.

As for going through Canada or Mexico; though it is possible, the US government has cracked down on this activity and it's much harder to do. I've heard though that if you go through Mexico, they don't stamp your passport going to Cuba.

I hear it's really nice there, though. I think, in our lifetime, we will be able to go to Cuba on holiday.

But, I'm fine with the Cuban cigars I allegedly get in this country.... [wink wink] for now.
