I don't think that he was using the excuse of being Catholic. I think he was using the excuse of being abused as a child.
And he is an adult and responsible for his actions.

I didn't know he was using that excuse but i'm sure the catholic church is outraged they would never support such an accusation they would have quitly transferred foley years ago if this was the case.
