Wentworth Direct Finance is not the only company that wants you to pay a fee for a loan, but it would seem they are the most well-known! I personally know 3 people who paid them a fee for finding a loan and then...guess what..they said they could not. They have an 0870 contact number that is seldom answered and the only way it seems you can effectively communicate with them is by post. When they first contacted me (yes, THEY wrote ME!) the admin fee was £70. When I didn't reply I got another letter saying that the fee had gone down to £39. At the time even £39 was a lot of money for me so I passed their details on to 2 people I knew. Needless to say they paid the money & got no loan! Lucky these people are still my mates! friend of mine pointed me in the direction of The Money Shop; interest will always be a bit steep if you have bad credit, but places like Money Shop and surefirefinance.co.uk are always worth a look.

I had a bad credit rating and this was the only way I could get one again which now I don't abuse and would only use in an emergency. Loats of these companies try to take an arrangement fee , then pass you on to another company (arrangement fee done) who then refuse you and there is nothing you can do about it. I should know, I still have financial problems via credit card misuse. I was so stupid and fell in to all the traps soooooooo easily. Don't do it unless you are desperate

im guessing this is an unsecured loan? If it is then the company in question are probably a broker, this is standard practice for brokers as its the only fee they will receive for an unsecured loan.

If you have applied for a secured loan and they want to charge you money up front dont do it, try www.surefirefinance.co.uk they don't charge upfront fees for secured loans and can even arrange a loan secured on your vehicle.

You may wish to call one of the free counselling services available in the UK. They are charities that provide free telephone support and also have locations throughout the UK.

They have likely had clients that have dealt with this company before.

If they ask you for money up front then leave well alone.

My sister paid a firm to find her a loan, and surprise surprise, they couldnt get her one.

But they kept the money she gave them for admin costs!!!!

wouldnt touch them!!!
