Since handguns were banned in Britain, gun crime has soared, so do anti gun laws do anything to reduce gun crime?

Gun Crime hasn;t soared in Britian, despite what the Mail and Sun tell you friend. Sources?

However, even if gun crime has soared, that doesn;t mean the tightening of laws is to blame. Its a common sense measure.

Look at it this way. Walmart sells heavy duty rifles, shotguns ,huntign weapons, pistols and the like, then you ***** and whinge when nutters blow kids to bits. get the bloody weapons out of the shops and choke the supply, that'll help reduce the crime

Keep in mind that the first thing Adolph Hitler did when he came to power was to ban all guns. Obviously, it is much easier to shove an unarmed person into an oven than an armed person.

You also will note that we banned certain drugs. However, this has done nothing to get them off the streets. We are an open society. We cannot put a police man (or woman) on every street corner. Although it is a trite saying...if you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns...and lots of them.

I would agree to increase the penalties for misuse of a firearm...just as I think we should increase the penalties for drunk driving. We should not ban the cars just because some morons in society drink and drive.

Hope this helps.

The passage of the Brady Bill here in America is generally regarded as a measure that lowered crime. Also many police officers were added at the same time, so that also contributed. Anyway, crime rates are again on the rise with local law enforcement paying more attention to terrorism than local threats and the Brady Bill has expired which is likely a cause to the increased crime. (The Brady Bill is a piece of legislation that bans many assault weapons)

Making it illegal to carry weapons only puts firearms into the hands we have most to fear from - criminals. They will obtain weapons whether illegal or not.

Would you like to be completely unarmed in a world of armed and violent criminals? Who would win?

One of the basic tenets at America's birth was that the people have the right to "bear arms". It is the only means of protecting ourselves from tyranny. Oh you think tyranny could never happen in America? We are a young nation, fortunate so far to have benign government. The future could be far different than you imagine.

A gun did not kill those little Amish schoolgirls. A weapon in the hands of a man with a twisted mind did.

No. I think common sense needs tightening up in America.

Here's a question: With all these school shootings going on, where are all these kids getting guns from and how do their parents not know that they have them?

No, but that does seem to be the message that the government is sending us on tv and the movies, especially family programming. I have read documents sent to tv producers 'encouraging' them to present a particular point of view, especially on this topic. We are also taught that the police will protect us if we give up the right to protect ourselves, but that isn't necessarily so either. I was told by officers in my town that their job is to protect the public, but not individuals. I think you know what that means. If they take our rights to bear arms, then the only ones who will have them is criminals and cops, and sometimes there is very little difference between them.

No, they do not. All that happens is that normal, law-abiding citizens no longer have the ability to protect themselves or their property and the bad-guys, who still have their guns, and who can now take advantage of the unsecured public.
This is why the violent crime rate soars.

THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS

Gun laws typically do three things; embolden criminals, render law abiding citizens defenseless and make liberal law makers feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
