I personally tip based on the type of service I get. If I get poor service, you will get nothing. Tipping is not a requirement and if you want a big tip, you must come correct.

We don't ALL tip poorly. I have a rule to never tip less than $5 for any meal $10 or below.So sometimes i end up tipping more than my meal. And when i actually eat a meal, i never tip less than $10, and anything higher depends on how nice my server is and how many people are in my party. Once i went out with two of my girls and we had a really nice server, we left her a $50 tip. It just depends on the person.

I used to live in LA, i went with my folks to a black restaurant and te bill was like 100 bucks, my mom tipped the waiter 10 bucks, when we left he was showing it to the other waiters, because usually only black people go in there, and dont tip.

Many of the black people know the value of a dollar and appreciate it much more than the rich white people in America. I'm sure they understand that you need the money, but they also need it. Many of these people were born in GHETTOS so they know what it is like not to have money. They are probably trying to prevent being in that circumstance again.
I think this is a situation where you have to wear someone else's shoes.
