It's about a girl who is going blind and she walks to the shops. Then she gets kidnapped by these two guys. Even though she's nearly blind, she remembers all of their details like tattoos, the car, everything. My Primary teacher read it to the class at roughly 1992 and it was the first book that really, really grabbed me as it was so very, very dark.
We never reached the ending though. We reached the bit were the girl escaped and she was running to a pub but that's about as far as it went. If anyone knows it, please tell me as I really want to finish reading it.
I loved the details of it and it was so edgy. Every page made you gasp and my teacher was very good at tension.
And please don't post back saying, "I have no idea what that book is, sorry" as I'll give you a bad rep. Yep, I'm a meanie.

I think the book you are looking for is called Take a Good Look by Jacqueline Wilson. This is about a partially sighted girl called Mary who goes to the corner shop and gets taken hostage during a hold up!
But if i'm wrong feel free to give me a bad rep!! The nastier the better ;-)

Please do not neg me here as I cannot answer your question but, wasn't this book turned into a TV film? I remember reading about an actress playing the part wearing special contact lenses and being fascinated by it.
