SecondLife.com is very appealing, if you aren't looking for a typical onling RPG game (like Wow or City of Heroes or EQ or something like that).
SL is more of a virtual world where you can create your own special avatar (the design tool allows for MANY possibilities!), modify the game world, and create your own objects. Many people who are skilled with art programs or know computer language are able to create items that look great and work great.
It is also good for socializing with others. Musicians give live streaming music concerts, support groups meet and chat, friends hang out together.
The graphics are great. There are some lag issues, but I have been impressed by how good the avatars and graphics are.
If that sounds like your thing, go for it. It's free, unless you want to own land.
