I have this exact problem as well. And yes, people on Yahoo are smart!! So, when you are about to do your leap, really plie your "take off" leg, and push off not just with the plie, but roll through your feet. it helps, trust me. Then, while getting into the leap, make sure you hit a form of pase and then flick it out. With the pase, your leg is in a position to thrust you up there faster and higher. Also, while jumping, breathe out. It's a technique that you should use for all hard steps or combinations. If you hold your breath, your muscles tighten, causing power to lift off harder. So, try that and see what happens! Hope that helped!!!

make sure you are getting a good enough plie before you jump. Also, keep your head and chest up so that you arent leaning over and throwing off your jump.

If it's just an issue of strength and not really an issue of form, I'd suggest just practicing them over and over again until you build up the strength to get your legs out in time. You can also ask your teacher for strengthening exercises. Good luck!
