No, not me...but I think it depends on how old you are, what your family situation is, and the opportunity the job presents. If you're young and don't have a girlfriend or wife or whatever, it's ok that you spend a lot of time at work if it's what you really want to do. But if you do have a girlfriend, I can tell you that she won't like it! She'll probably want more quality time than the limited amount that you'll have after work, unless she is pretty low maintenance.

If you have a wife and kids, I think that's just a lot of hours to be working when you could be focusing on your family. It's not a bad thing to do, but just a value judgment - is it worth more to you to develop your career at this stage of your life, or to spend more quality time with your loved ones?

Also, as I mentioned before, is this a good opportunity? If, say, for example, it's an internship that you've been dreaming of that can lead to bigger and better things, then it might be worth this kind of time commitment in the beginning. Then you can perhaps reduce your workload after you've gained some experience and seniority.

Lastly, I'd consider your financial situation. If you really need the money and this job is the best you can find to get the kind of money you need, you may not have much of a choice.

So - many things to think about, but I'd lean toward no. If you don't think you'll love the job or it's a great opportunity I think you'll start resenting the toll it'll take on your health and your family after a while. There are several jobs you can get (in California at least) that'll pay you that amount, and you'll only have to work 40-50 hrs a week. No reason to kill yourself working if you don't have to.

You have to take the work load, work conditions, weather you enjoy your job and average income for that area. That may be a great job if what you do requires minimal mental, or physical labor. Many people who love their jobs almost live at work. Think film critic Robert Ebert. Now I'm jealous. What could be better than getting paid to have fun. If you live in an area where $62k is livable and you love your job then go for it. One warning though, if your job keeps you from your family or you don't yet have a family and are planing on having one in the future, this may be a bad idea.

That's $14.90 an hour...which isn't bad depending on the type of work and other benefits, but it is still a lot of hours.

Personally I wouldn't do it because the stress on your body will get to you quickly and I'm betting after about a month of not having any time at all for anything other than sleep you'll hate the job.

After 40 hours, you should be getting "time and one-half", unless you are salaried and exempt (from the Fair Labor Standards Act).

If you receive $62,000/year, that equals about $31/hr.( used 2000 instead of 2080 for convenience), or $1240 for 40 hours. In addition, the next 40 hours should be paid at $46.50/hr. ($31 + $15.5). So:

40 X 31X52= 64481 (Back to 2080-normal workyear)
40 X46.5X52=96720

$64,481+ $96,720 = $161,201

Seems to me that the employer is getting a good deal.

Nope. If you're willing to put in that many hours a week, you might as well work full-time and go to school full-time for a high paying job (like engineering). When you're done with school, you could start out in the mid 50K range, and only work 40 hours... you'll breakeven within a few years, and not die of hypertension.

I wouldn't unless you were in a financial situation that this would be a short-term thing such as you were trying to pay off debt.

You would be better off trying to increase your income by getting a higher paying job. You may need to increase your skill set by taking some classes or learning a trade.

no, when you work that much you are sacrificing something. Like love, kids, a social life.. All these things matter more than all the money in the world.

It would depend on the job and if I liked it or not. And it would depend on my family. If I had kids and a husband, then no I wouldn't. If I hated the job, then no I wouldn't. Overall, probably not.
