Do you believe what you see is everything you get?

Example: I knew this guy that bought a Brand New Benz 2007, and he lived in an apartment in a poor part of town, with no furniture or anything in the apartment.

Do some people buy big homes, or cars for looks and have nothing else like food to eat or clothing? Anyone know anyone like this?

And if so, why do they do this?

Yep, in fact most people do that. They are just after status, which they will find out eventually is worthless. Reminds me of a question I asked my husband once. "Most people live on cheerios and drive a BMW, but we eat steak and drive an '83 chevy. Am I doing it wrong?"

He laughed and said he likes it just how it is.

People do that all the time. They have their priorities messed up in most cases. But say this guy with the car felt he needed to impress people in order to get ahead in his work career. You never know. He may be sacrificing nice furniture and a nice place in order to obtain those things in the long run.

I think most people will make sure they have at least food to eat but I know there are a lot of dead beat parents out there that will waste money on things they do not need while their kids starve. Its sad to see people walking around with their skinny dirty kids but they got $100 worth of weave sitting on top of their head. Or to see a dirty old car thats about to break down and loaded up with hungry little kids while their parents go into a store and buy a carton of cigarettes and the mom is all dirty and fat and stank but she has brand new long *** fingernails glued to her hands with all the extra designs that cost more $.

I live in an apartment complex in a suburb outside of Washington DC that costs too much for an average working single man like myself.Housing costs around here are too high,so single people like me get screwed! I have to pay rent that is sky-high because I just can't afford to buy a house! I make good money in my line of work, but living in this area is just so expensive! I always have to budget myself.
But my apartment complex has an agreement with the state welfare agency to provide low-cost units for people who can't afford housing. On my days off I see lots of folks in my community sitting around on the steps of their building smoking dope and drinking. These same people (who can't afford the rent!) also drive pimped out rides! They wear the newest fashions, and always seem to have the money to throw cookouts on their patios in the middle of the day! We even have a d1ckhead who rides his brand new dirt-bike around on the kid's playground on Sundays when the management office is closed! I don't even want to mention how many times I've been woken up by gun-fire......
I make more money than these people, but I live a little more modestly.I'm saving up for a house. My neighbors seem to be satisfied with immediate gratification at the cost of their long term well-being,but that's OK.....I'll give'em all the one-fingered-salute in a few years as I drive a loaded moving truck out of the parking lot on my way to my new house in a better neighborhood!

Easily. The high school I go to is the best place to find over compensation. I have some friends whos parents work full time with little rewards and they themselves work for little money. They also happen to have a 2006 Mustang and very nice clothes. However, when I go to their house it's like stepping into white Compton.
