There actually is a difference of oppinion here. Though I've seen this vague reference at one site that I cannot seem to find again! Maybe my "spelling" is the prob? lol

There are a few reason one is they the great apes and humans have to eat vitamin C if they or we do not get enough we and they get scurvy the other is based on amino acid sequences between guinea pigs, primates, I have listed the links below to some of these articles,
