as an electromechanical journeyman, i used measurements constantly.. if i was doing electrical work it normally involved lengths of conduit and wire.. you do not want to come up short when pulling wire into a conduit.. when bending conduit i used basic trigonometry to figure out how and where to bend the conduit..

if i was working as a pipefitter, i would used math to figure the different lengths of pipe to run less what is called the "take off" which is subtracting the necessary measurements for things like fittings and elbows..

any construction worker is constantly using measurements all the time.. that is why tape measures have a clip for your belt, because we all have at least one tape measure..
