My friend needs to call the previous owner of his car, ask him if he still has the key from it.
The dealer wants too much for the key, besides, the car has to be towed there.

look online or in the phonebook for a mobile key maker. I did that once, it cost me $50 for 2 keys.
The chances of contacting the previous owner is slim.
