Piano lid locks do tend to be rather simple locks and you could maybe even pick the lock yourself using a unfolded paper clip or something. You'd probably be able to crowbar it open without damaging the keys, but it will probably damage the lid quite a bit which might make the piano look at bit less attractive, so if picking it yourself doesn't work, I'm sure a locksmith would be able to sort you out.
As for the piano being hard to play: anything worth doing is usually difficult, and the piano is no exception. Of course, it depends what you want to play and what level you aim to play at. If you want to just be able to play simple melodies with simplistic bass parts, you probably wont find yourself encountering many difficulties. However, if you aim to learn to read music and learn Classical pieces and sit grades etc., then you'll find it increasingly taxing.
The key to it is practice. Even when you don't feel like it, you should try to schedule practice time in every day. The more time you set aside, the better and faster the results will be. Aim for a bare minimum of 15 mins if time is tight, but setting aside 30 mins or more a day is far more realistic if you want to see results.
Especially if you're coming to piano as an older student with limited time (and patience!!), then you'll no doubt find learning to play a tiring, difficult and stressful experience at times, but when you start to make progress you'll see that its also an extremely rewarding hobby. Good luck with it!

The locksmith can probably pick the lock for you. If the outside of the piano looks cared for, then it is probably worth the effort. A piano tuner might be able to help you as well. Good luck. Playing anything is hard, but the piano is so incredibly versatile.

Trust me, piano playing is hard at first. I have been playing for nine years and some songs are tricky. Start with easy books and work your way up. Try to get a locksmith or even call a piano teacher or piano store and they might know another way to open it. Good luck.

Guitar unquestionably includes the factor of discomfort which piano hardly does, consequently i might say guitar is greater stable to income. yet as quickly as you get stable at the two, piano is in all probability the toughest to play complicated issues on because of the fact the way a guitar is made provides a style of simplicity which makes it greater undemanding. the two are very first rate.
