Socialism and Capitalism both revolve aroudn a Democratic order, so the leaders tend to be voted in by their Parties winning power via elections.
Communism has only ever really ben achieved via the Gun, in the form of Revolution, although Bolshevik Russia was the notable exception, with the Communists first winning power via elections ,then destroying all opposition

Despite what they say it's pretty much influence. If you have a large economic role in the country or are a high standing official then you are up for leadership. In a true communist state no ones in power, that of course isn't true and it's the person with the biggest signature. In socialistic and capitalistic they have varried ways of elections.

They all come to power the same way. Ignorant and apathetic people grant them power because they feel like they need a strong leader to feel safe. Even when the iron fist starts to clamp down and take away their rights, they still don't realize they made a mistake. They just believe that it proves that they've found a strong leader. Just ask George W. Bush; it worked for him.
