I am a female, and I really want to get ONE of my nipples pierced. I just have some concerns/questions! How long does it take to heal? Does it effect breast feeding (cuz I do want children in my future) or what does it do during breast feeding? If i take out the nipple ring, will it heal up - ever? If anyone who answers this has their nipple pierced, has it ever been infected like other bodily piercings?

Another concern i had was: could i ever loose feeling/sensation permanently? Cuz i don't want that at all :P

I got mine pierced after I had my son and no longer have them in. I had one for a few years. Yes, the first one pinches and the second one hurts. Everyone I have had this conversation with has had the same experiences with the sensation. I don't think it affects breast feeding but I would safely assume that you have to take them out to breastfeed and chances are they will close up.

There is always the chance of infection. I took my last one out about 2 1/2 years ago because during the winter my nips would get hard and that would irritate the piercing to infection. I always kept it clean so I'm not sure why. Maybe my body just didn't want it in anymore, so I took it out. But it was my favorite piercing ever. I LOVED IT!!! Not necessarily as a toy or sexual pleasure, just as decoration, it looks really nice.

I didn't lose sensation in either of my nipples, but if you go to a bad piercer it's possible. Go with recommendations, that's what I did. I saw someone with his nipple pierced and asked who did it. Don't be shy to ask people who have it done, if we didn't want to be asked about it, we wouldn't have done it. Just approach them intelligently.

Sorry, one more thing....it took a little less then 2 months to heal for me.

I have my lip pierced and am considering get one or both of my nipples done as well. However, the one person I knew that got her's done is not happy about it. They get infected A LOT and took almost a year to heal. Kind of scary. On the other hand, my lip healed very quickly and never got infected once. The average heal time for nipples is 6 months though, so it's awhile. Not sure about the pregnancy issue. I'd recommend you consult a doctor on that one.

I have the same thing and I got my nipples pierced. Generally the piercer will "play" with your nipple to get it erect so he can pierce. Mine was free handed and most piercers use a clamp to hold the nipple so it doesn't go soft. As a common misconception people always believe that your nipples are always hard when you get them pierced, but for me my nipples can still be soft. This has no effect or tightening of the skin for me. When they aren't erect they will just be soft and go down to about where the bar is. After getting them pierced it is a bit painful. The worse is taking a shower and snagging them on your loofah. Ah! Also, when you get them pierced and for awhile after they get crusty around the bars just make sure to clean them regularly. Best of luck (:

If you want to add jewelry there why don't you use bindis. They do it in India all the time and it's temporary. IF you are set on the nipple piercing do more research on the web. I really have reservations about the safety of thatand its affects on breast feeding... also if it doesn't heal well what will happen with the scar tissue?

when i was in college i got my nipple pierced... i was young and stupid.. and it never healed correctly and it hurt sometimes.. sometimes it may cause uneven feeding. it will heal, but there will always be a scar, like every other piercing.

Why do you want to do it? Your nipples are pretty enough on their own. You don't need to add any jewelry. Keep things natural!

Why stoop so low? IMHO, women who pierce their nipples, eyebrows, etc... My wife has several piercings
in her ears, that looks nice, but outside of that, you're
classifying yourself... ;)
