I personally think Maradona, he is obnoxious and annoying I know, and a complete ignorant, but one thing he knew was to play football. Have you seen any of the matches he played? It is amazing to watch. I really did not care for Maradona because every time he was on TV like on interviews he mas making an a$$ out of himself, he actually still does. But once you only judge him for his footballing skills I think he is the best. Where else has one player made the difference to win the world cup?

Pele, he is great, the only problem with him is that the game has changed so much since he played, back when he played teams were scoring ten goals each, because the defensive strategy in a game was not well developed. I´m not sure he could´ve been as great with today´s game strategy. Plus Pele is all about politics, he knows how to put a great face for the media and people love him cause he looks like a great guy.

But judging only on skill I would have to say Maradona.

Cant wait to see ur answers onthis question. GREAT question by the way. And oh so hard to answer......there are sooooo many at just one position. Much less all of football period. Your answers will cover a broad spectrum. Im sure lots will say Tom Brady........NEVER THAT tho.........ok, enough of my rambling. I'll give you my answer. And as far as best goes, it can't help but also be partly favorite as well. Dan Marino or Emmitt Smith. And I'll choose Marino. Even though he never won a ring, he was a GREAT qb...and all of the records that Brett Favre is now breaking once belonged to Dan the Man Marino. So even though lots of people remove him from top player consideration cause he never won a Super Bowl, I'll still say he was the greatest ever.

i say zidane, because he took france, a team that didn't score a single goal in the 2002 world cup and brought them up here to the finals and almost won the world cup

Pele, no ifs ands or buts. he could pass, he could dribble, he could shoot, he could run. there was basically nothing that he couldn't do at a higher level than just about anyone else. and seriously people, "Pele: only has one "l" in it
