Ok, well, i have a really abnormal period. Like, I only get it 2 or 3 times a year.

I just read somewhere that abnormal periods can be a symptom of infertility. I mean, I know you can take pills to regulate your cycle...but what if it's something bigger? what if i can't have kids?

does anyone know anything about this?

also... i'm only 19. but i've had this problem since i started menstrating (about 5 years ago)

I would talk to a gynocologyst. i know that my older sister has irregular periods and found out that she had hypothyroidism. After that they became normal. It is a key factor into infertility but there are also many reasons why it is irregular, maybe it is hereditary. I would talk to the gyno now so that in the future you know what the plan is. In the future you might have to have infertility drugs or not. But I think that if you don have SOME periods you are not completly infertal and you shouldnt worry yourself sick.

An abnormal period can be a sign of problems, some of which cause infertility. If you have been having your period for five years and you only get it 2-3 times a year, you should discuss it with your doctor. That is not normal at all! Some things, are you under weight or on a diet? Do you eat and drink the appropriate amounts? What is your typical stress level? These are things that can cause your period to go awry.

Not necessarily a symptom.....but it can make it difficult to get pregnant if you only ovulate 2-3 times a year....because you won't know when you are ovulating. Will be very hit or miss.

Don't get all worked up...go see an ob/gyn to help calm any fears. There are wonderful medical advances out there!

I 2nd Melissa's placed up...get checked for endometriosis. We tried for 2 years, used clomid and IUI, and not something. I had basically one sign of endo (heavy, clotty classes) yet i desperate to have an exploratory laparoscopy just to work out. My well-being care provider and husband tried to convince me just to head directly to IVF yet I wasn't waiting -- I basically had to renowned why i replaced into infertile as another try replaced into suitable. docs fee endo on a scale of a million-4, my lap confirmed I had point 3. 2 months after the lap, I too conceived clearly. no person is familiar with precisely why endo motives infertility, in spite of the undeniable fact that it is somewhat certainly one of the right motives for infertility. the obtrusive motives are it grows on ovaries, blocks tubes, distorts the form in there. different theories are that it releases some form of chemical that prohibits a useful fetilization/implantation, perhaps why women people who've an extremely reasonable case of it without actual interference with the female shape, nonetheless have subject getting pregnant. the main consumer-friendly indications of it are soreness and heavy classes. different motives for painful and heavy classes is a few thing referred to as fibroids. they could additionally reason infertility subjects. i do no longer comprehend much approximately those so I basically linked some links. the two endo and fibroids could reason soreness in the process the month, no longer basically for the period of your era. they could additionally make intercourse rather painful. If I have been you, i could flow see a Reproductive Endocrinologist (a fertility expert). OBGYNs and GPs are super and have their place, in spite of the undeniable fact that this isn't any longer their area of expertise and, to be rather frank, i've got heard way too many wacko memories relating to the techniques they cope with infertility to flow to a minimum of one for fertility subjects. the reality that your record basically suggested "stay with it" makes me say get a 2nd opinion! the accepted, healthful couple gets pregnant interior of 300 and sixty 5 days of unprotected intercourse. 5 years is a protracted time to no longer get pregnant, in spite of in case you're no longer somewhat "attempting." good success to you!
