Your remote address is the internet address that others on the internet see when you connect to them. It is assigned my your internet service provider. Every computer on the internet has one.

Visit http://whatismyip.com and it will tell you your remote address.

Point your browser to http://myipresolve.com/ and it will show you your remote IP.

The remote address is the address that people from "the outside" must enter in order to connect to your computer. If you are running on a local network through a router you will NOT see that address in My Computer or by running ipconfig. Those will only work if you don't have a router, otherwise they will give you your local address. The webside will always show you your remote IP though.

your remote address, to my knowledge, is what your NIC address is (your network interface card). Each network card has an address hard-coded in it.

You can find it by opening a command prompt (click Start - Programs - Accesories, find the command prompt program and click on it) - then enter the following at the command line:

ipconfig

You'll see the IPs on your NIC and what you're using for the internet at this time.

Greetings!

Start, Run in box type ipconfig.exe or if your operating system is newer type cmd then in the next box type ipconfig.exe

Are you trying to network? If so use the network wizard. The remote address is an INTRANET address for a network.
If you are trying to network the printer there is also a wizard you can use for that.
Go to start control panel , printers and then add printer.

Good Luck
