The French and Indian war was a turning point in the life of the young colonies.....
important things ( IMHO)
1. George Washington participated in this war as a young man...didn't do very well... was shot at and had to turn tail and run--but it got his name " out there" so to speak

2. The colonists learned that the British were really very weak and they were able to watch and learn how to fight from the "Indians"

3. You know this war was between the French and Indians ( ON THE SAME SIDE) against the British--right?

4. The French and Indian war cost Britian SO MUCH money that really is why they began to tighten the "taxing screws" on the colonists and that in turn made the colonists very angry....and eventually we have the REVOLUTION.

Those are just some points I would make sure I had in a two page paper

yes, my best advice to you may be to rent Last of the Mohicans, with Daniel Day Lewis and Madelein Stowe. It's set during the time.

What do you need to know? The major players? Mostly French colonists/soldiers and Canadian Natives, against British soldiers/settlers and some native American indian tribes - fought in the Ohio valley, into southern Canada for the northwestern territories of the new continent in the early 1700s. Very fierce, brutal fighting.

Out of it, the British got what is now the United States, and the French got "la Canada". The Indians got squat.
