Hospitals for the most part, along with most health care facilities, are for-profit organizations. Therefore, if someone wants to pay for gender reassignment (which hospitals make you pay for) then they can. If a breast cancer patient wants meds (not really the hospital's surgery center's problem) they should pay for them also. It's just like any other business, fair or unfair, you get what you pay for.

Patients who are selected for gender reassignment don't see their surgery as non essential - alot of these patients have serious gender identity disorders and this can be more costly than surgery.

The NHS would be better off if the government stopped all the endless reorganisation and allow the people who work in it run it and save money!

It doesn't matter what the operations the hospital performs-the patient pays for it. Now, if an inmate wants a gender reassignment surgery, that's another story...

As for your question about breast cancer meds I would definetly want to see my money going to a worthy cause which would definetly be a yes!
