If you want to know the value of an hour ask a dying man.
He has but a short time to live and every last waking and breathing moment is of great value.
If you want to know the value of a moment ask a dead lovers companion.
They would give all they had for just a minute more with their loved one.
P.S. The dead man thing was off the top of my head not taken form the other scholar.

if you want to know the value of an hour ask a cancer survivor and if you want to know the hour of the minute ask a terminal cancer patient i work for the relay for life cancer society and any word getting out on awareness of cancer is great and i have been fortunate enough to spend many hours with some of the patients and this very much so matches your value poems
