I am 5 months along, before I got pregnant I weighted 142 and now I weight 128. I am 5'5" and 22 years old. I talked to the doctor about it but I am not even showing at 20 weeks and it worries me, but he acted like it was normal. I dont think he realizes that I lost 14 lbs in 5 months. I have a small build but I dont like being skinny, It just kind of worries me and I wanted someones elses advice or input. Thanks

I never had morning sickness bad, now I am getting some heartburn if I eat pizza, so I don't eat it anymore. It just seems like I am losing by the day. I am healthy and the baby is growing good, but I just wasn't sure why I am still losing instead of gaining. I can feel the baby move and also I have an anterior placenta, so i didn't know if that was causing me to not show.

It is normal. I lost six pounds in the first 13 weeks of my pregnancies and have only gained four back in the last 7 weeks. (I to am 20 weeks.) I am in my second pregnancies with 8 months between birth of first and start of second so I am showing like a ballon. But with my first I didn't start showing till I was 5 or 6 months and never really looked that big. I look right now at five months what I looked like a nine months with my first, and the only reason for that is because all the strecthiness was still there and just went right back into place.
Don't worry every pregnancies is different and your body knows what it needs to do for the baby, it is preparing in the way it thinks it needs too. Enjoy your pregnancy.

I was having that same problem at the begininng of my pregnancy. Because I was extremely sick, but now I started gaing weight but not as much. Every time I go to my appointments the nurses tell me that I only gained 1 pound... I am 8 mth's now and I thought that I would of gained a huge amount of weight and I have not. I am not really complaining because I will get right back into shape after I have the baby..
As for your situation, everybody is different and you happen to be one of the lucky ones. If the doctor is not saying that theres a problem then you should not worry. However, You should gain weight eventually and if you do not, then something might be wrong. (Good Luck)!!!

It's normal to lose weight the first months...especially if you had a lot of morning sickness...Now that you are five months along the baby will start putting more weight on too, and that will make you do the same... In pregnancy one puts on the most weight during the last three months. (in total about 18 to 22 pounds in a normal pregnancy)..If next month you still haven't gained any weight tell the gynecologist....
I wish you an easy birth...and a beautiful baby!!!
:-)

If you were very sick in your pregnancy, it is pretty typical to lose weight. With my first pregnancy, I lost 20 pounds! Have you had an ultrasound yet? If so, then your doctor should have seen whether or not the baby was developing properly or not. If you haven't had one, it would be strange that your doctor didn't have you take one. If you haven't started gaining weight by your next visit, or you notice any thing else that seems strange, contact your doctor immediatley, or go to the ER

When i was pregnant with my third child i lost weight the first three months. That was do to being sick. Can you feel the baby moving? Every one's body reacts differently to pregnancy.. As long as the Dr isn't concern dont' worry. Look at the bright side when you have the baby you won't have to worry about having extra weight left over!! Good luck!!

I did but I was overweight when I was pregnant all 3 times. I ONLY gained a few lbs through each pregnancy.
If your doctor doesn't give you an answer ASK one of the nurses or PA - Physician Assistants!

Well, check your doctors, you know, get some pregnancy guides and see what is normal and not normal. If you continue to lose weight, i advice you to eat more protein, fats etc. Just not too much, the baby needs to be healthy.

no its not normal to lose that much. I lost weigh during my pregnacy too. What I did was I tried to eat what was healthy for me and the baby, no junk food, if you have a job that requires you to walk a lot that could be the answer too. Or you can go to another doctor sometimes a woman can understand you better than a man

a friend of mine lost a lot of weight when she got pregnant and had a perfectly healthy little girl. just keep eating healthy and looking after yourself and you should be fine. if it wasn't normal you doctor would have said something about it.
