I don't know what kind of school you go to (public, private) but a lot of schools have dress codes that prohibit students from doing things to make themselves noticed. Are your parents ok with your hair? If you are in trouble, you should do a little bit of research and find out if the school has the authority to tell you how to wear your hair. I would start with the student handbook, and even the US Constitution, (specifically the 1st amendment) and see if you can argue your case to the school.
Above all though, remember that the school is the authority here, and while you disagree with them, you should still be respectful of the position that they hold. I think that if you can show them that you took the time to do research and actually put some thought into it, they will probably give you a little bit of respect in return.
If you need help with your research, your librarian should be able to get you going.
Good Luck!

That's hotttttttt/awesome. And to answer you, no it is not FAIR HAIR. :o)
Purple is my favorite color; It is the color of Royalty and it symbolizes (as a color) Wealth.
At least they tell me so...
If nothing in the dress code mentions hair color then you should be fine. Were your and the girl's parents aware of the personal appearance change, or did you make the change at school / away from home?
Edit your question please - do you attend public or private school and in what school district or general region of your state? What did you mean by got in trouble ... please explain. Later purpledee durpledee.

Here is a link to an ACLU site where the issue of Student's rights (specifically hair color) is discussed.
http://www.aclu.org/studentsrights/dresscodes/12760prs20020429.html
Check it out. Unless you are in a private school, I don't think they can suspend you for hair color. Get a lawyer!
Power to the People! Question authority! Fight the Power! etc, LOL
Here's an excerpt:
The issue of student suspensions over hair color is not new to the ACLU. Three years ago the ACLU of Virginia represented Surry County High School student Kent McNew after he was suspended for coloring his hair blue. That case went to court in Richmond, where a federal district judge ordered the school to reinstate McNew and to pay the ACLU's lawyers $25,000 in legal fees.
The district court's decision in McNew's case was based on a 1972 Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling, Massie v. Henry, holding that students have a "right to wear their hair as they wish as an aspect of the right to be secure in one's person guaranteed by the due process clause." In 1999, the ACLU also represented a Chesterfield County Middle School student who was ordered to leave school because her hair was colored pink. That case never made it to court, as the school immediately reinstated the student once the ACLU intervened.

unless it states somewhere that dyeing your hair is against the rules, which would have to include highlights and regular hair color, you are in the right and should stand up for yourself. Just because the school doesn't care for it, doesn't mean they can't let you do it. It is your freedom of expression and unless it violates a school policy, you have the right to do it.

School's have some weirdness about things. When I was in highschool, two of my friends were kicked out for being vegans. Our principal said that it obviously ment that they were devil worshipers. I would ask about the hair because unless it's part of a school dress code, there's nothing they can do.

If theres a dress code in school you have to follow it. School gets you prepared to go to work, so just like having a job theres rules about how to dress and conduct yourself. Sorry:(

Well, is there a rule against purple or pink hair? If so, pretty self explanitory; if not, definately unfair.

Sounds like you violated a school code; you sound like an intelligent person, so you should read the codes for yourself, so you don't get into trouble again.
