it impairs circulation, over time can cause varicose veins, is a good habit to break.

It can be bad. It does interfere with the circulation in the legs. Also, it can put unnecessary pressure on the nerves in that area of the legs. I have crossed my legs for years, right over the left. I have spider veins on my lower left leg now, not on my right though.

It can cut off circulation to the lower leg, and that's not good. If you get a tingling or pins and needles sensation in your leg or a "dead leg" then thats a sign that you've cut off the circulation.

supposedly it's not that great to cross your legs, for health reasons, like you've probably heard; if you do, it's better to cross them European style (that is high and tight), rather than U.S. style, that is loose and with a big space between your legs--and contrary to what another answerer said, it is not "fairyish" to cross your legs, including guys. jeez.
