I need to write a short story for a creative writing assignment and I want to avoid it being cliched or boring. Has anyone got any ideas and what I can do with them?

Vicious dude way to answer the question (the first answer u got). I say write what intrest u. If u like video games so something with that. If u like sports, lets say Ur a basketball player, the star at Ur school. U keep seeing unusual things all around u. Ur friends think Ur losing it but u find out Ur the only one who has the magic to use Ur basketball skills to save the world from an evil monster. Or maybe u r the most experienced video gamer in all the worlds. u get so good that u r now able to talk to the video game people or monsters telepathically. and now they want to control u, so u have to fight. now what next. just get creative with it.
