Fake trees are less of a mess and less of a fire hazard. You don't have to water them every day. You can put them up earlier and take them down later than a real tree. That's why I have a fake one. You can always buy candles and potpourri that smells like pine to get that wonderful smell.

Why waste your money on a real tree that sheds needles when you're just going to throw it away anyway or burn it up in the fireplace after Christmas? Besides it is a waste of natural resources for just one holiday! A fake tree looks just as good if not better and lasts for about 10 years before you need to replace it. So in the long run, not only do you save money from buying a tree every year, but you perpetuate the natural forest by letting the trees grow. Merry Christmas.

I really prefer a real Pine tree, if you put a large bag under it then the needles fall into the bag instead of all over the floor. And the smell of pine is awesome. Plus if you have a fireplace then you can enjoy the smell of the burning pine after you have used it for Christmas. If you cut some of the branches off to make it fit in the stand correctly, then you can make a beautiful wreath out of those branches.

I feel that a real christmas tree gives REAL christmas spirit to the household, and that fake ones are just for lazy people who can't uphold a real one, which is only sweeping up the dead needles every once in a while and watering it...but I think that the benefit of having a real tree for christmas time outways the work you have to do to uphold it.

I love the smell of a real Christmas tree - but I'd have to say fake - no needles to pick up.

I never had a real Christmas tree until I got married. My husband wouldn't hear of getting an artificial one. The smell of a real pine or balsam is very nice and Christmas-y, but then you have to keep watering it and cleaning up the pine needles. I'm still gonna have to say a real-looking artificial tree is better!

There's something so earthy about the smell of a freshly cut Christmas tree, but so many people are allergic! Plus......there's always a risk of fire if the needles dry out. Invest in a nice artificial tree that will last for years and buy several pine scented candles to burn!

i hate fake xmas trees even though my mom's family always used 1. when i was younger i started to go out and pick a small real tree for myself and decorate it. its really up to you on how much work you want to do. yes real trees are a mess when it comes to the needles. but fake trees can also be a mess when it comes to set up and storage. i know my mom's xmas tree we had many years later was a pain to put together. so you just have to weigh all the pros and cons of each and decide which cons you can handle.
