you could purchase a nail whitening powder at a beauty supply (or get a manicure from someone who uses it... like myself).

You could get a soft nail buffer, and buff it off

Or leave your nail polish off for awhile until it grows out

more than likely you will have to do a combination of the three.

for future: make sure you use a quality base coat, and quality nail polish.... this will prevent yellowing

There are some nail polishes out there that are specficially for discoloured nails, ones that smokers would use as their nails would turn yellow through smoking or discolour through aging.

You could also try asking a beautician at your local salon or shopping centre.

Hi this happend to me once and i just had to wait for it to fade or grow out with the rest of my nail. I think lemon juice is suppose to work. Try a whitning nail varnish remover in cutex, this is brillient and may make it fad quicker. But i stopped using dark nail varnished and if i do wear them i always put on a base coat and then take it off later in the day.

Probably not very healthy, but I soaked both my finger nails and toe nails in watered down bleach. It worked a treat. Just leave them for 5 minutes and then rub clean with some cotton wool, if it still has not come off just dip them back in for a few minutes.

Apply an undercoat of clear nail varnish before applying dark polish. Try lemon juice and warm water, soak and apply heaps of hand and nail cream afterwards!

I use a lot of nail polish remover then I lightly buff my nails with a very very fine file. Or you can soak them in denture cleaning tablets - the effervescent kind.

You can buy nail whitening sachets from beauty supply shops that you just put in water then soak your nails in it, to prevent staining in the future you should use a base coat before putting coloured varnish on.

Be patient. Right now, you can't do anything. If you buff your nail, you'd file off of some layer of the nail. Let it be for now. And in the future apply some base coat.

To prevent it in the future, make sure to put on a good clear base coat before you put on the dark polish.

Pop 1 denture cleaning tablet in a bowl of warm water, it will fizz like mad, and place fingers or toes during this 'fizzing' and leave for 10-15 minutes.
Its not at all harmful like watered down bleach, and you can pick up denture cleaning tablets for as little as a £1 at your supermarkets or chemists, boots, superdrugs etc. located under dental care areas.
SO give it a go ladies!!!!!!!!!!!
