I need your help solving these questions by using substitution or elimination method.
Here are the questions:
1)You are starting a business that sells air filters for homes. Your startup costs for the business are $1250 and each air filter kit costs $40.
If you sell the filters for $60, how many must you sell to break even?

2)If you buy 7 hamaburgers and 3 slices of pizza from Sizzler, you get $1 change from $20 bill. If you buy 8 hamburgers and 2 slices of pizza, you get $0.50 back from a $20 bill. How much change would you get from a $20 bill if you bought 3 slices of pizza and 5 hamburgers?

Thanks

1) 60x - 40x = $1250
20x = $1250
x = $1250/20
x = 62.5 --> 63 filters to break even

Check:
60(63) - 40(63) = $1250
3780 - 2520 = $1260
since $1260 > $1250 the answer is 63 filters becuase on the 63rd filter your business has finally made an overall profit of $10

2) x(7) + y(3) = $19
x(8) + y(2) = $19.50
x(5) + y(3) = ?
x=2.05, y=1.55
? = $4.10 in change

Check:
$2.05(7) + $1.55(3) = $19
$2.05(8) + $1.55(2) = $19.50
$2.05(5) + $1.55(3) = $4.10

i hope this helps

I am not sure about number 1 but number 2 $1.50 in change

1) I can see how you can break even when you are only making $20 profit per air filter.
