What comes to mind most readily is the Oriental paper shade that Blanche uses to cover an exposed light bulb.
She also favors white in her clothing, in an attempt to appear more virginal than she is, and says that Stella is actually the older of the two, but Blanche has always thought of her as her "little" sister.
