I'm 23 years old and I love anime since I was 6. My favorites were "candy candy" (shojo "girls" anime). Then at 13 I liked Rurouni Kenshin, or Samurai x ( the name the series had when it first arrived to America). Now I like Gankutsuou: the count of monte cristo, Inuyasha, Bleach, Naruto, Gokudo (an oldie), Trigun, Chobits, Ranma, Dragon Ball, DB Z, the list goes on and on, but the only girls series college guys like so far is "Fruits Basket" so I recommend it to any guy who likes anime. Believe me, everyone thinks is too girly at first, but the series is so cruel sometimes that guys like it. Plus the karate fights are always good. You can see it for free at "You tube"

Guys are more interested in Manag and anime than guys? Huh. I didn't know that. I always thought it was the other way around. Becuase at school and when I'm out and about, I see more girls carrying around mangas, wearing anime clothes and carrying anime bags than I do guys. As a matter of fact, I've never seen a boy with anything anime besides a shirt.
But I definately think girls are more open about anime than guys. I've never heard a guy who I've just met say, "Yeah, I'm also obsessed with anime and managa." That's basically what I do, actually. It's not until I show a boy how I draw or they've seen my anime shirts that they say, "Yeah, I like that show." or "Hey! I draw anime too!" Maybe not with that much enthusiasm, but you get my point I hope.

Well, then you obviously don't go to my school. I know plenty of both girls and guys that like manga, but also plenty who don't. As for the other question, it really just depends on the person. Take me, for example. I don't really care much about most anime or manga, but I'm willing to watch it or read it and can sometimes actually find some of it to be pretty good.

Oh yeah, plenty of girls are into anime. I'm 19 and have been reading manga and watching anime since I was 14. A lot of other girls aren't as open since a lot of anime is kinda directed at guys with the few girls in them or the very skimpy clothes a lot of characters wear. But there is the occassional girl who is loud and proud of anime like me.

In Japan it's much more acceptable for a woman to like anime or manga than the males. If I'm not correct I'm pretty sure that the market for both female and male consumers of manga is about equal (beat that comic books). There are plenty reasons why women are interested in anime and or manga, mainly because there are is a wide range of genre. These include; Shojo( girl), shounen(boy), bishonen(beautiful boy), bishoujo(beautiful girl), Seinen(adult men),progressive, mecha, moe, josei, kodomo(kids),sentai(fighting team),Shojo-ai/yuri(girl love),Shonen-ai/yaoi(boy love). Most anime tend to incorporate many or these different genres giving it a broader appeal. The best thing about anime is that there is always something for someone, I geniunely refuse to believe that someone can dislike anime because of their experience with one series.

Actually, there are more girls then boys interested in the anime genre. You obviously have not gotten out to a con. If you base it on just American based anime fans (like Naruto, Inu Yasha, DBZ...etc), the ones that only watch American released anime, then yes, there are more boys because that is what the American released series are for.
Overall, anime is geared more for females the majority of the time. Go to a real con, with real anime fans, and it will be mainly girls.

If you look at it by western standards, this guys are more inclined to like animes due to the fact that there are more "for boys" animes shown there. But in the case of Japan, there is an equal distribution of the sexes since animes there are widely spread across different genres.

Girls and guys both like Anime and Manga equally. It's not because your male or your female that you like anime and manga, it's if your actually interested in it or not.
