I am a museum piece and do not understand how they work. I believe YAHOO is grooming us to spend more time on their site and develop profiles of its users. Adding more 'time-wasters' such as this service will show commercial sponsors that there is great participation/viewers/customers.
When I first learned of ANSWERS, I thought I could obtain constructive responses to valid questions, but now find that most users are adolescent or behave that way. I was looking for a brain trust and got a party line instead. Very few respondents (Lioncourt among them) display the capacity to communicate in a meaningful way. But I admit, I view this service daily.
BTW - thanks for the 'Best Answer' points in the past. You have good taste. You pose provocative questions.

I will give thumbs up to a real good answer and thumbs down to a real bad one.But the ones in the middle get nothing.

I don't know, really. Guess it depends on the person. I haven't gotten very many that I know of, but they don't exactly email you when you get a thumbs up like if you got best answer. But as for myself, I do my best to give them.

Takes too much time and can lead to multiple e-mails saying you gave the best answer, ten per answer.
