Did you rest on it "funny"? Or you could have a neck problem, that is the same trouble I had until I saw a chiropractor. The numbness was due to a cyst in my neck, now I am pain free, no numbness.

I would guess carpel tunnel. You get this from any repetitive motion work not just typing. There are as several others said many possibilities.
If it lasts for more than a few minutes at a time and more than occasionally get it checked by a doctor.

Raynauds syndrome is another of the things that will cause that.
Do they turn blue and get cold when you go outside in cooler weather? Let your health care provider know they can test you

lack of circulation to diabetic neuropathy and a whole list of things in between....if it concerns you, have a doctor check you out.
