And yes, the Dems have had lapses too, but they’re mantra wasn’t, “We are the party of morality.”

"Absolute power corrupts absolutely," as the old saw goes -- which makes you wonder why the Republicans have become so fixated on obtaining it!

I think there are a lot of decent and sincere people within the Republican rank and file - but they are being scandalously manipulated and hoodwinked by their leadership, and the financial interests that are behind them. The GOP leadership will I believe do damn near anything to remain in power, and so I tremble for the future of this country if they aren't sent packing on Election Day!

What else do I think they're up to? I am fairly certain that they will be pulling out all the stops to frighten - no, terrorize the American people so they'll vote for Republicans. I strongly suspect they will throw volcanic amounts of mud at their opponents at the last minute. I am sure they will attempt yet again to restrict voter participation in Democratic areas. And it's even possible that they will rig the voting process itself.

Sometimes it seems like they figure that since the national security is at stake (in their eyes, that is), anything is allowable.

(And by the way - I wonder how many answers here will point to Bill Clinton or otherwise try to excuse Republican behavior by saying "But the Dems do it too!" Talk about your moral relativism, sheesh....!)

Hahahah...all in a days work for the moral, self-righteous Christian Republican party!

Live in a glass house?
Don't throw stones!
Or, in the Republicans sense: those without sin can cast the first stone.

So, it's politics as usual...just a different party with the same issues of abusing power!

The culture of corruption is rampant.

Well... Hitler took iron fisted control of Germany after faking an attack on parliment and going to war over it. He then started a Homeland security, suspended civil rights for those that he thought were enemies of the state.....

What do you think Bush wants to do?
