Well now that pluto is history and has another name that I can't remember; what will they use to memorize the order of the planets???
Will it be, "My very educated mother just ate nine?"
And we will be left hanging for another word but we can't use pizzas because that used to stand for pluto......so i guess that saying is out the door now...

Well, the most common mnemonic was "My Very Educated Mother Just Sent Us Nine Pizzas."

So, now you could say "My Very Educated Mother Just Sent Us Nothing."

Or, you could include the names of the dwarf planets (Ceres, Pluto, Charon, Xena) and go like this:

"My Very Educated Mother's Cat Just Sent Us Nine Pathetic, Crappy Xylophones."

Umm, they didn't change Pluto's name, they just added a numerical designation, like they do for all asteroids. All scientists will still call it Pluto.

There is no official mnemonic for the planets. If you don't like it, make up your own. Or, like someone else mentioned, just memorize the 8 planet names in order without the mnemonic. Honestly, I can never remember the mnemonic, anyway.

Why is it so hard to remember 8 planets in order, by their own names, that a mnemonic is needed?
And there is a gap: it is Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and then Saturn (Where is the S?) Uranus and Neptune. Shouldn't it be "swallowed up nine" (or "swallowed up nothing" if there is no pizza involved)?

Ok, First of all Stop crying over pluto, im sick of it.

two, pluto IS STILL A PLANET, its just called a dwarf planet now, so no biggie, we still have to remember the phrase.

well... first of all, you did not remember that phrase correctly anyway (it was "just served us...", not "just ate..."), so, it should not be such a big deal to you?
As for the rest of us... well, it doesn't have to be pizza, or even mother.
