You don't have to hurt them... they are already hurting. Somebody, something has already hurt them and that is why they have hurt you. Had a bad day at work? Do you go home and kick the dog? This is what is happening. You are above that. Let them know that you know they are hurting. Let them know you aren't going to play their game. Let them know that you are here to help when they want your help. AND MEAN IT! You will discover if they tried to intentionally hurt you or if it was just a knee jerk reaction to a particular circumstance. Be the BIGGER person. Take the first step. Start with "I'm sorry that your hurting and you feel like you have to lash out at me." Let them know that you still want to be their friend. However, be ready accept an apology and don't hold your breath waiting for one. One of the greatest things about relationships is choice. You can choose to remain friends or not. You are in control of what is happening and don't play or be a victim. The second step may never come... but be ready to seperate yourself from this person.... completely. If they don't accept responsibility for their actions chances are they're going to continue with their unacceptable behavior using this approach to gain your attention. This behavior makes them feel like they are in control. People like this are malo. Remember... they are already hurting so you don't have to go their.

Don't do it. I understand the pain you have but 2 wrongs don't make a right. Just because the other hurt you does not mean you need to hurt them even though you want to. Be the bigger person and let bygones be bygones. You can talk to that person and tell them how you feel but as for purposely hurting them is not right. Walk away and get on with your own life. You will be happier in the long run and you will save some self-respect. Believe me that is more important than hurting them. I wish you the best.

Hurting that person will not take away your hurt, you only think it will. Its better to get involved with some activities that can take your mind off of that person instead of wasting your time with revenge.
