This method wont get rid of it completely, but it will help.

Get some absorbant paper (blotting paper, brown paper, white recycled paper etc) NOT coloured or newsprinted (as this may transfer to the stone)

Lay the paper over the wax and gently warm the back of it with an iron. The wax should soften and attatch to the paper. Keep moving the paper around so that a clean part is ready to absorb more wax, dont forget to keep the soft waxy paper away from the clean stone as you don't want it to reattatch somewhere else :-/

Once the bulk is removed, gently dab the stone with a cloth dampened with parafin and washing-up liquid. If you're lucky, this will draw the wax residue from the stone (if it's a sandstone it's probably beyong help)

hope that helps
