How about:

Beat It - Michael Jackson
Material Girl - Madonna
Every Breath You Take - The Police
Sharp Dressed Man - ZZ Top
Addicted To Love - Robert Palmer
We Got the Beat - Go-Gos
She Blinded Me With Science - Thomas Dolby
Jump - Van Halen

All I can think of at the top of my head from my teen years.

Edit: I've added this list below that has 80s tunes.
I cannot think of any baritone songs. I think he'd have to falseto. Hope this helps.

Duran Duran was on MTV a lot with Hungry Like the wolf, Girls of film, and Save a Prayer.

I don't remember any Baritone singers having their own hits, however there is always the acapella song "The Longest Time" by Billy Joel. And i believe there was one by Huey Lewis and the News as well, but I can't remember the name.

Barry White performed on "Secret Garden" with several other artists and Rockapella was getting popular thanks to the tv show "Where in the World is Carmen San Deigo"

Just have your son check out some of the websites for 80's hits and make the song his own. Adding his own flavor to an old song will give it new life and create more fans.

Good Luck!

I remember Def Leppard's hit Pour Some Sugar On Me being number 1 on the MTV countdown in the late 80's. It was my first introduction to rock n roll. I have been rocking ever since.

The Police-"Every Breath You Take"
Survivor-"Eye of the Tiger"
Van Halen-"Jump"
U2-"With or Without You"
Guns N' Roses-"Sweet Child o' Mine"
Whitney Houston-"So Emotional"
Bonnie Tyler-"Total Eclipse of the Heart"
Lionel Richie & Diana Ross-"Endless Love"
J. Geils Band-"Centerfold"
Foreigner-"I Want to Know What Love Is"
Hall & Oates-"Kiss On My List"
Rick Springfield-"Jessie's Girl"
REO Speedwagon-"Keep On Loving You"
Santana-"Winning"
Journey-"Don't Stop Believin'"
The Go-Go's-"Our Lips Are Sealed"
Squeeze-"Tempted"
The Tubes-"Talk To Ya Later"
Eddie Rabbitt-"I Love A Rainy Night"
Cyndi Lauper-"Time After Time"
Tina Turner-"Better Be Good to Me"
Dan Hartman-"I Can Dream About You"
Billy Idol-"Eyes Without a Face"
Chicago-"Hard Habit to Break"
Billy Ocean-"Caribbean Queen"
Wham!-"Careless Whisper"
Don Henley-"The Boys of Summer"

There's a mix of songs. If he needs something in a lower octave I would suggest looking into music by Billy Idol.
