I put this question before but many (most?) of you did not have a chance to answer.
What do you think would/could happen if EACH of us would start to think and act towards "others" according to how we would like to be treated by others?
Please answer sincerely. Thanks!

What utopia do you live in? Yes, it would be wonderful...but no one is ready or willing to take responsibility. I am a school teacher of twenty years. The past couple of days as you are aware have been very difficult. I have seen many questions posted that are implying that it is the school's fault..."these things never happened when I was in school". You know what, that is true. But it is not the schools fault. Society was different back then. There wasn't so m,any one parent homes, and usually one parent did not have to work and were always home to see what the kiddos were up to/ Values were taught at home and discipline was always given when appropriate. It seems that today parents are so busy with work they have lost sight of these kids. Families don't talk anymore...they don't have time. It is not a school issue. While at school, we do our best to teach math, English and reading/ We squeeze in art, music and gym. But our Day is only so long...families have to step up and talk at home about emotions, ways to express needs and feelings, morals, etc. We do our best and will continue to do so...but help us please by teaching your child to love, forgive, be sympathetic, show concern and yes...treat others as we want to be treated. Thanks for posting this question Fresch2. We do need more people to think like that..if not for yourself, for your children. Everything starts at home.

It would make everything in this temporal world better than it is, for everyone, but how to encourage people to think? It is at the heart of all religious and humanistic thought, it's at the heart of how I try to conduct my life, it's at the heart of any sensitive thought. It's so obvious that it gets put aside as a cliche, yet another unconsidered elephant in the sitting room, this is a sincere answer, the "elephant" was no joke. It's not just spiritual, it's eminently practical.

I think we'd live in a much better society if people considered the rights of others when practicing their own rights. A right does not mean you have absolute freedom to do something. You have the right to swing your arms around wildly if you want, but that right stops at the tip of another person's nose or other body part.

Every right is inexorably linked with personal responsibilities . You cannot have one without the other.
No liberty without license.
