Yes but it would be far easier to try and remove the stain. Try the carpet shampoo Aerus sells (used to be Electrolux.) Use it about half strength. Spray some on the stain and scrub it with a stiff object. After it dries out just vacuum it up.
Even easier ask them to come and show you how they will usually do it for free. Just remember they are there to sell their product so be ready for a sales routine.

You certainly can , but I couldn't imagine how you'd be able to make a good color match. If the carpet is old, then it's going to be impossible to make a match, and it's not going to look nice.. you might as well just leave the stain.
I say, get a new carpet.. for the whole room.

It won't look that good if you do because you'll see the seam where you cut. Have you tried a steam cleaner--that gets out a lot of stains and if all else fails, you can put something on top of the stain (like a little table) or just buy something new!!!

This is possible. It would have to be done by a professional carpet layer. They can seam the pieces together. Could be costly.

yes, it is quite simple and you can do it without noticing the lines. you probaly have some pieces placed together and don't even realize it. the problem is getting matching colors.

It will be hard to match the color. Maybe a runner or just put in linoleum.
