I'd say Nokia, and I'd definitely stay away from SE.

My boyfriend works for O2 and he says "it depends what you are looking for in a mobile, camera quality, music, internet services etc... In my opinion the N91 has more advanced features than the N70 and the N90. I currently have a nokia N73 which I think is the overall better handset for features and appearance.
As for sony ericsson, the K800i has the best features, although for appearance I personally like the W850i."

N70 is a smartphone with all the feature and with 3G capabilites
N90 is a camera phone with twisting style where you experience the same style of a video Camera.

K800i - Camera phone
W850i - Music phone

In terms of software, SE is far better than Nokia because all Nokia phones come with bugs.
User friendly is Nokia because you are used to it. But once u start using Sony Ericsson you will stick with Sony Ericsson.
Although I am using Nokia 9300i and Motorola V3i & L7.& P990i as well

If you are looking for an instrument with lot of features and sound then go for SONY... but if you want a phone which you can use for a long time go for NOKIA... NOKIA is reliable SONY will show its true self after 3 or 4 months of use

Can;t compare like that generally. my advice is to list out the features you are looking for on a mobile and compare. i mean if you are going for a camera phone k800i is the best. if you need a music phone w810i is the best. if you need a symbian phone n70 is better option. likewise can't compare generally.
Nokia is userfiriendly and Sonyericsson meant to be good sound quality phones
