Does that mean if my boyfriend has a cold sore he has been in contact with someone recently or can the virus he got a long time ago just pop up?

UTI's aren't usually caused by STDs but they can be, I occassionally get them from sex, but it's from having bacteria entering the urethra by friction and then going to my bladder, not an STD.
Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus type-1 - It's transmitted from person to person - but you don't have to have an actual sore to infect another person, though it spreads easier when you have an active outbreak, and once you have it, you have it for life - I caught it as a child, but haven't had an active sore in 10 years. Most people actually get HSV-1 as children - from their relatives - Granny wants to give you a big kiss!

you can get a UTI from having sex and not cleaning up afterword, as well as alot of other factors, but you don't get it from your partner. And you usually have to come into contact with someone who has the virus to get the cold sore. The cold sore is a herpes virus.

uti does not come from the partner however sexual activity can exacerbate a uti or get one started for a woman who is prone to getting them. you have to come in contact with a person who is infected with the herpes virus in order to get a cold sore. this happens to most people in early childhood so you probably do not remember being exposed. following the initial infection, the herpes virus lives in your nerves and then it can come up whenever it feels like it and give you a cold sore

uti is some kind of imbalance within the urinary tract. nothing you can get from someone. and you can get a cold sore from any kind of oral contact with the infected person, by driving after them or using lipgloss/lipstick to. also alot of people got them at birth from being kissed by someone who has cold sores too.

U can get a UTI if your partner is too large and sex too rough. As for the coldsore, I get em when I'm sick. This could be an old virus or a new one. If he's never had coldsores before this is something new. IF he has, it could just be an outbreak due to stress, illness, whatever.

Yes, yes, and yes
Although the UTI could be from dirty hands...most likely STI (sexually transmitted infection)
