I think we, here in Scotland, have earned the right to govern ourselves by now.
However, England will never allow it because most of the Oil & Gas wealth of UK is North of the border. Even tourism is a larger part or our economy than theirs. Americans especially come to Scotland for the scenery, friendly people & safer travel.

It is not the question of wether Scotland should be independent or not that people (English) find bigoted it is (often ) the person asking the question. You yourself have alluded to what I am referring to with your remark about Alan Hansen. The implication being that because Hansen lives and works in England he must be anti Scottish.
Another daft remark by many pro independent Scots is the English (often spelt ingerlish to be derogertory) have stolen 'our oil' as if the natural gas beneath the North sea belongs to Scotland alone. The idea is as daft as Yorkshiremen/women claiming that their coal has been stolen or their steel for that matter or Cumbrians claiming Manchester are stealing threir water .
I hasten to add I am sure there are some pro independent Scots who can seperate a political wish for an independent Scotland from being anti English .
Hope that answers your question

If the majority of Scots were catholic I would see the point, but being they are culturally similar to the Brits and Welsh and Ulsterians, I don't see why they should be autonomous. Scotland is stronger with England than without.

I have no problem whatsoever with Scotland becoming a totally free and independent country. Why the delay? Scotland is self sufficient in energy, oil and gas, produces more food than it can eat, has a culture second only to Wales [land of my fathers]..etc
I am biased in favour of the Celts...see if I care...hoots mon, there's a moose loose aboot this hoose...as Wee Willie Harries sang.

I bloody well wish someone would give the bloody scots their own government, and stop them bloody moaning at the rest of us! You've had your chance before! I suppose you think you'd do a better job than your ancestors? I guess that puts Gordon Brown and John Reid out of the picture then.
Sean Connery for Scottish president then. I guess this queen will have to give back Balmoral. And what will you do with that huge estate? turn it into a chippy that does deep fried mars bars?

Do you know you'll have to apply to join the EU, how long does that take? I bet you have no idea.

If we get an influx of cheap labour from Eastern Europe, I have the perfect job for them: rebuilding Hadrian's wall. If Scotland wishes to go it alone, that's for them to decide. But if they opt to join the EU and it all goes ****-up, then that's their look-out. We in England won't have to bail them out. Then again, they must be a bunch of totally sad muppets if they want to sign up to Europe. Worst thing they could ever do, but obviously they can't see past their noses. Why sacrifice your national identity?

Trivia fact for the day: Did you know that South Korea once banned Ewan MacColls records because they said that he came from a communist country?

rNo you started it all by calling people! So yes you are a bigot and it is people like you that gives Scotland a bad name.

AT Aberdeenshire.

How I wish you would read your history and interpret not how you wish but how it really was. Who sold the Scots down the line, their own aristocracy that's who. Grow up laddie.

I would love an independant Scotland! I am English by the way. I would also love an independant Wales, and let's give Northern Ireland back! That way we can get rid of the word "Britain" and all variations of it as well as getting rid of "United Kingdom". Then hopefully I'll be able to tick my actual nationality on forms, as will everyone else in the other so-called UK countries, and we can get rid of that ridiculous Union Flag.

Extra bonus, the Yanks might stop getting so confused - unlikely though!

I don't think it's bigoted. I'm English, my view is pretty much, if Scotland and Wales want to be independent, they should be independent, if they don't then they should be in the union. Very laid back really.
