As several people have noted, snoring can be a sign of sleep apnea, which is easily treated with a CPAP machine. Apnea is not just an inconvenience for the sufferer and his/her bed partner - over time it can do serious damage to the heart and can even kill you! Even if your heart is okay, it can also cause people to be sleepy during the day and fall asleep while driving. PLEASE have your husband go to a sleep specialist ASAP - it could save his life - and make yours a lot pleasanter.

In most cases insurance will cover the CPAP - if not, you can get a good machine at http://www.cpap.com for about $300 - I use a Puritan-Bennet Goodknight 420C and love it - very quiet and lightweight. You have to have a prescription to buy one.

Oh, some people will tell you that only severely overweight people get sleep apnea - NOT TRUE! My mother was very slender and had a severe case.

You might try BreatheRight strips, which are available at Walmart and other discount stores and drug stores. If he puts one on his nose when he goes to bed, it will hold his nostrils open just enough that air can pass easier. He will get more rest, and so will you. If he stops breathing for short periods while asleep, which is a condition known as sleep apnea, he should see a doctor. There are treatments for that. Sleep apnea can become dangerous if left untreated.

advise your husband to see an ears, nose, and throat doctor.
he will probably arrange for your husband to attend a sleepover at a sleep study clinic. there, they'll hook him up to electrodes and study the intensity of his breathing and snoring. snoring can be extremely serious and indicative of a breathing or heart problem.
when all is said and done, your husband will be fitted for a head attachment that will keep him breathing regularly, minus the snoring, which in essence is his trying to take in enough breath.
Best of luck. hoping soon that both of you will be sleeping safely, soundly, and QUIETLY.

BreatheRight strips are the answer. Or if he snores a lot, nudge him a bit. It's ok to have him wake up a bit if he's keeping you up.

Nothing will stop him, you will eventually have to get your own room. I did.
