run a defrag program. or you may need more ram. just use the system tools to clean it up.

Computers have a tendancy to slow down over time. This is because we add programs, etc. that take up additional space on the hard drive and in RAM. Many of these programs are TSR (which means they still eat RAM even when you close them). Some programs "leak" memory, taking up more and more space as time goes on.
The fix is to unistall all programs you don't use. (Even not being used, they can still slow your computer down). I'd also get Winpatrol by BillP and use it to see just what's on your computer; killing all startup items and active tasks you don't use. Cleaning up and defragging your hard drive will help as well.

how many programs are you running at the same time. how overloaded is the memory. defrag, run malware removal, antispyware and anti virals after you have emptied temp Internet files and history. Yahoo piles up a lot of stored pages.

Many downloded files and/or cookies can slow your computer down significantly. this happened to my computer. I had to run software to delete the files.

Maybe you are almost about to fulfill your hard disk. Clean it from unnecessary files and perform a defragmentation process

You could have a virus, or be bogged down with spyware (adware) and/or useless cookies.
