Call a defense attorney who will give you a half-hour or so of consultation without charging a fee.

I don't know the answer to this, so don't think I'm not suggesting there is such a thing; but ask if there is such a thing as a "verbal power-of-attorney" (or something like that) - or if signing the check even with the person's permission or even after he told you to is still forgery (in which case you need a defense attorney, who may know how to handle this).

Do you have proof that he said to do what you claim he told you to do? If not, I would consult a lawyer immediately. If he did tell you to sign the check, it would not technically be forgery because he gave his consent to such an action.

Unfortunately, TECHNICALLY, he is correct. If he takes legal acttion against you, he would win. The only way you are legally allowed to sign another persons name is if it is in writing stating that someone is authorized to sign their name. If he is breaking up with you because you "forged his name" he is being a jerk.

The problem is that unless you were a common law partner or on the account(even if your name wasn't on the cheques), he's correct.

You need to contact a defense attorney for assistance. You're probably going to have to go to court.

how long before the break up did you sign the check for him, cause that can make or break your case, try to get him on tape admitting he told you too, then let him call the cops they will arrest him for filing a false complaint

If it comes to court, you will have to prove a past precedence and then you will be fine. You just have to prove that he allowed this to happen on more than the one, preferably many times.
