Running windows xp on compaq presario 5004us model- know how to install card but computer wont plug and play install and cant figure out how to get to bios..thanks

if you look at the as you boot it should tell you , mine is F2 to access the bios if laptop del if desktop
navigate to the advanced menu (or check all) till you find onboard sound hit enter key after highlighted it (use mouse keys ) change to disabled press enter then F10 then enter . reboot

On bootup most computers use F10 to access the BIOS, but if you watch close it will tell you which key. If it's not F10, it may be DELETE, or ESCAPE, or F12 it could be either of those. If its a Compaq it should be the F10 though.....
